MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions (MFCS) congratulates University of Wisconsin-Madison for winning the internal combustion division of the 2015 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Clean Snowmobile Challenge (CSC) held March 2-7, 2015 at Michigan Tech University's Keweenaw Research Center.  This collegiate design competition challenges teams to reengineer an existing snowmobile to improve environmental performance.  Modified snowmobiles then compete in a variety of events including emissions, noise, fuel economy/endurance, acceleration, handling, static display, cold start and design.

The award for winning the internal combustion division at the 2015 Challenge includes the University of Wisconsin-Madison's name being etched in the MacLean-Fogg Cup, their possession of the Cup for one year and $1000 donated by MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions.  The MacLean-Fogg Cup was artistically designed and sculpted by Sergio De Giusti, Italian born, Detroit-area artist.

MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions is dedicated to becoming the premier, worldwide supplier of value-added, engineered, and customer-focused solutions that leverage their material forming expertise in key product fields.  Partnering with the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge allows MFCS to interact with engineering leaders of tomorrow.

Dave Lomasney, Fastener Components Division President, stated, “MFCS is better known to our customers for providing high-value, innovative products than to potential employees.  Our involvement with the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge provides us with an opportunity to meet with top engineering students and introduce them to MFCS.”  Rob Whitney, Engineered Plastics Division President, said, “MFCS has experienced a tremendous growth curve requiring capable and innovative engineers in all areas of our company.  The SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge enables students to apply their talents and gain valuable skills in preparation for their careers at a company like ours.”

Jay Meldrum, Executive Director of the Keweenaw Research Center of Michigan Tech, commented, “Michigan Tech is honored to have MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions become the premier sponsor of the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge.  MFCS recognizes the value of competition-based engineering and the quality of students that this type of activity creates.  Their sponsorship of the MacLean-Fogg Cup exemplifies this support and will provide a lasting impression on the students.”

What a great competition!  We look forward to next year!
