About Hot Forming

Here at MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions’ Metform division, things get a little hot around here, like 2200 degrees F hot inside one of our 10 Hatebur horizontal  hot forging presses.  Our hot forge process works by:

  • Start with Hot Rolled Bar Material
  • Induction Heated up to 2200 degrees F
  • Processed in a multi-station hot forging machine with an output up to 180 pieces/minute

The benefits to the customer of this process is:

  • Very complex shapes and contours of components can be accomplished
  • Very efficient raw material usage via near net forming technologies with minimal scrap
  • Very consistent, uniform material flow and grain structure with less stress induced in the material
  • High precision and high output hot forging process due to fully mechanical hot forging equipment
