MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions to Sponsor 2015 Michigan Formula SAE

MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions (MFCS) is excited to announce its Silver sponsorship of the 2015 Michigan Formula SAE® Collegiate Design Competition.  The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a design team to develop a small Formula-style race car. The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules whose purpose is both to ensure onsite event operations and promote clever problem solving.  This competition will take place May 13-16, 2015 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI.

Partnering with the Michigan Formula SAE® Collegiate Design Competition allows MFCS to interact with the engineering leaders of tomorrow.  Rob Whitney, President of MacLean-Fogg’s Engineered Plastics Division, said, “Being affiliated with SAE first through the Clean Snowmobile Challenge and now with the Michigan Formula SAE gives us a great opportunity to interact with and support top engineering students from around the world.  We are proud to support the type of hands on learning and growth that these SAE competitions promote.”

As part of our partnership, we are introducing the “MacLean-Fogg Fastening Challenge”.  This is a new contest-within-the-contest where teams will have the opportunity to submit the details of a fastening challenge they incurred during their vehicle development, how they resolved the issue, and how they validated their solution.

As a Silver sponsor of this event, MFCS looks forward to interacting with and supporting collegiate engineering talent from top universities around the world.  Dave Lomasney, President of the Fastener Components division, stated “As a worldwide leader in fastening products, MFCS specializes in assisting customers in finding the most efficient solutions to their most unique fastening problems.  The MacLean-Fogg Fastening Challenge embodies the type of critical thinking we promote at MFCS.  We look forward to supporting the students.”

The winning team of the MacLean-Fogg Fastening Challenge will be presented with a plaque and a $1000 award.
